Product Introduction

Y2842 is a highly effective reactive compatibilizer of the POE-g-GMA type. Based on selected POE (ethylene-octene copolymer) and manufactured via an advanced reactive melt-grafting process, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) is grafted onto the polymer backbone to produce a high-performance functional polymer. Its core value lies in the epoxy groups on the molecular chain, which can chemically react with various polymers containing active functional groups (such as carboxyl and amino groups), acting as a "molecular bridge" that firmly connects otherwise incompatible materials. Compared with maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted compatibilizers, GMA offers higher reactivity and generally more pronounced compatibilization and toughening effects. The product features a high grafting ratio (Y2842 grafting ratio ≥ 0.8%) and high purity, ensuring stable performance and broad applicability.

By introducing highly reactive GMA functional groups onto the flexible POE backbone, Y2842 serves as an efficient reactive compatibilizer, significantly reducing the interfacial tension between non-polar phases and polar engineering plastics in polymer blends, enhancing the interaction between phases, and providing both compatibilization and toughening functions. The product is specifically designed for applications such as polymer alloys, engineering plastic toughening, filled/reinforced systems, bio-based materials, and recycled material modification, and can significantly improve the mechanical properties and surface quality of final products.

Product Appearance: Natural color pellets

Product Properties:

1. High Reactivity: The epoxy groups of GMA exhibit higher reactivity than traditional MAH, enabling efficient reactions with polymers containing carboxyl, amino, and other functional groups, resulting in more pronounced compatibilization.

2. High Grafting Ratio: Special processes ensure efficient and uniform grafting of GMA, with a grafting ratio ≥ 0.8%, providing abundant reactive sites and high reaction efficiency.

3. Efficient Toughening: The POE base itself possesses excellent low-temperature toughness and impact resistance. After grafting with GMA, it maintains its toughening effect while imparting superior interfacial bonding to the system.

4. Excellent Compatibility: Effectively improves compatibility between non-polar polymers (such as PE and PP) and polar polymers or fillers (such as engineering plastics, glass fiber, and mineral fillers).

5. Improved Processing and Appearance: Enhances melt fluidity and filler dispersion in formulations, reduces processing difficulty, and significantly improves surface smoothness of finished products.

Typical Applications:

1. Polymer Alloy Compatibilizer: Suitable for incompatible or partially compatible polymer alloy systems such as PA/PP, PA/PE, PET/PP, and PC/POE, effectively improving phase interfacial adhesion to obtain alloy materials with balanced properties.

2. Engineering Plastic Toughening Modification: As an efficient toughening agent for engineering plastics such as PA (nylon), PET, PBT, and PC, a small addition can greatly improve notched impact strength and elongation at break while maintaining good rigidity and heat resistance.

3. Filled/Reinforced Systems: Improves interfacial bonding between inorganic fillers (such as glass fiber, talc, calcium carbonate, and magnesium hydroxide) and polyolefin matrices, significantly enhancing the mechanical properties and surface quality of composites.

4. Bio-based/Degradable Material Modification: Suitable for blends of biodegradable materials such as PLA (polylactic acid), PBAT, and PBS with polyolefins, improving interfacial compatibility, mechanical properties, and processability.

5. Recycled Material Modification: Acts as a compatibilizer and toughening agent for recycled plastics (such as PE and PP), mitigating performance degradation caused by reprocessing and improving the overall performance of recycled products.

Recommended Addition Levels:
Thanks to its high grafting ratio and high reactivity, POE-g-GMA can take effect at relatively low addition levels. The recommended addition range is generally 3%–10% of the total formulation. For toughening modification systems, a suggested addition level is 5%–15%. The optimal dosage should be determined based on the user's specific base formulation, target performance requirements, and processing conditions.

Processing Recommendations:
Y2842 exhibits good thermal stability, with a typical processing temperature range of 190–260°C. Final processing temperatures should be optimized according to the specific formulation, equipment type, and process conditions. Small-scale trials are recommended before mass production.

Packaging and Storage:

Packaging: Paper-plastic composite bags, 25 kg/bag. During transport, avoid moisture, contamination, and direct sunlight.

Storage: Store in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This product is hygroscopic; keep the container sealed after opening to prevent moisture absorption.

Shelf Life: 12 months from the production date under proper storage conditions in the original unopened packaging.

Safety Precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation during high-temperature processing. It is recommended to wear protective gloves and goggles during handling. Do not store with flammable or corrosive materials, and keep away from ignition sources. For detailed safety information, please refer to the product SDS.
