Y2837 is a maleic anhydride grafted SEBS product within the SEBS-g-MAH series. This series is based on selected SEBS and utilizes an advanced reactive melt-grafting process to efficiently graft maleic anhydride (MAH), producing high-performance functional polymers. The product features a high grafting ratio (Y2837 grafting ratio ≥ 0.8%) and contains no plasticizer oil, ensuring purity and stable performance.
By introducing polar maleic anhydride functional groups onto the non-polar SEBS backbone, Y2837 serves as an efficient interfacial modifier, significantly reducing the interfacial tension between non-polar phases and polar engineering plastics (such as PA and PET) in polymer blends. It enhances the interaction between the two phases, providing both compatibilization and toughening effects. This product offers high solubility and blendability, is soluble in various organic solvents, and can be well blended with many polymers. The maleic anhydride functional groups impart polarity and reactivity to SEBS, greatly improving compatibility with polar materials and acting as a critical "bridge." The product is specifically designed to enhance the performance of high-end thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and specialty cable materials, significantly improving the mechanical properties and surface quality of final products.
Product Appearance: Light yellow pellets
Product Properties:
High Grafting Ratio: Special processes ensure efficient and uniform grafting of maleic anhydride, with a grafting ratio ≥ 0.8%, providing abundant reactive sites.
No Plasticizer Oil: The product is pure, with no risk of oil exudation, making it especially suitable for applications demanding high purity, migration resistance, and long-term stability.
Excellent Compatibility: Effectively improves compatibility between non-polar polymers (such as SEBS, PP, PE) and polar polymers or fillers (such as halogen-free flame retardants and engineering plastics).
Reinforcement and Toughening: Significantly enhances the tensile strength, elongation at break, and impact resistance of matrix materials.
Improved Processing and Appearance: Enhances melt fluidity in formulations, reduces processing difficulty, and imparts excellent surface smoothness and a refined rubbery tactile feel to finished products.
Typical Applications:
Engineering Plastics Modification: This product can be used as an efficient toughening agent for the toughening modification of engineering plastics such as polyamides and polyesters, significantly improving impact resistance and elongation at break. As a reactive compatibilizer, it effectively enhances interfacial compatibility in incompatible polymer alloy systems such as PP/PA, PC/PBT, and PA/ABS, refining the dispersed phase and producing high-performance alloy materials with balanced properties.
Filled/Reinforced Composites: In composite systems where polyolefins or polyamides are filled with glass fiber, mineral powder, wood flour, aluminum hydroxide, etc., this product acts as a polymeric interfacial modifier, strengthening the interfacial bonding between polar inorganic fillers and non-polar resin matrices, reducing filler agglomeration, and effectively improving impact strength, tensile properties, and heat distortion stability of the composites.
High-Performance Adhesives and Coatings: With good solubility in organic solvents and reactive functionality, this product is suitable for preparing high-performance solvent-based adhesives or coatings. It provides superior bonding strength compared to ordinary non-polar elastomers, especially in adhesion applications involving metals, glass, and polar engineering plastics (such as polyamides and polyesters).
Elastomer Overmolding (Two-Shot Injection Molding): In TPE overmolding processes, this product can be added as a compatibilizer or adhesion promoter to SEBS-based TPE formulations, effectively enhancing the bond strength between TPE and polar substrates (such as polyamides, thermoplastic polyurethanes, and polycarbonate alloys). It is suitable for applications such as smart wearable watch bands, automotive interior parts, and electronic device housings. Recommended addition levels: 5%-8% for overmolding onto polyamides, and 2%-5% for overmolding onto thermoplastic polyurethanes. The dosage should be fine-tuned based on substrate grade and molding conditions; preliminary small-scale trials are recommended.

Recommended Addition Levels:
Thanks to its high grafting ratio and efficiency, SEBS-g-MAH can take effect at relatively low addition levels. The recommended addition range is generally 3%–10% of the total formulation. The optimal dosage should be determined based on the user's specific base formulation, target performance requirements, and processing conditions.
Processing Recommendations:
Y2837 exhibits good thermal stability, with a typical processing temperature range of 170–260°C. Final processing temperatures should be optimized according to the specific formulation, equipment type, and process conditions. Small-scale trials are recommended before mass production.
Packaging and Storage:
Packaging: Paper-plastic composite bags, 25 kg/bag. During transport, avoid moisture, contamination, and direct sunlight.
Storage: Store in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This product is hygroscopic; keep the container sealed after opening to prevent moisture absorption.
Shelf Life: 12 months from the production date under proper storage conditions in the original unopened packaging.
Safety Precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation during high-temperature processing. It is recommended to wear protective gloves and goggles during handling. Do not store with flammable or corrosive materials, and keep away from ignition sources. For detailed safety information, please refer to the product SDS.
