This series of products are high-performance toughening agents prepared by using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) as the matrix resin and modifying it by introducing elastomers or reactive compatibilizing components such as maleic anhydride (MAH) and epoxy functional groups (GMA).
Mechanism of action and performance advantages:
1. Matrix compatibility
The PET/PBT segments in the toughening agent have a similar structure to the modified polyester substrates (such as PET, PBT, and their blends), enabling good interfacial compatibility through molecular chain entanglement and co-crystallization.
Toughening components (such as POE-g-MAH, EPDM-g-GMA, etc.) disperse stress through the elastomer network, enhancing the impact toughness of the material.
2. Interfacial chemical bonding
The reactive functional groups (such as MAH, GMA) in the toughening agent can chemically react with the polyester end groups (-COOH/-OH) to form chemical bonds, significantly improving the interfacial adhesion between the elastomer and the rigid matrix and avoiding phase separation.
3. Synergistic effect of fillers
In glass fiber reinforced (GF) or mineral-filled (such as talcum powder, mica) systems, toughening agents can simultaneously improve the dispersibility of fillers and matrices, reduce interfacial defects, and balance mechanical strength and toughness.
4. Application effect
Mechanical property optimization: Significantly enhance the notched impact strength of PET/PBT (by 50% to 300%), while maintaining high tensile strength and modulus.
Processing stability: Improves melt flowability, reduces glass fiber exposure and warpage, and is suitable for thin-walled injection molding or high-speed extrusion processes.
Hydrolysis resistance: By reducing the penetration pathways of water molecules through interfacial chemical bonding, the performance degradation of polyester in hot and humid environments is delayed.
Typical application areas:
Electronic appliances: components such as connectors and relay housings that require high heat resistance and impact resistance.
Automotive parts: lightweight materials such as bumper brackets and sensor housings.
Industrial materials: wear-resistant and fatigue-resistant components such as gears and bearings.
Product Features:
It has good compatibility with PET/PBT matrix, without the risk of delamination or migration.
Reactive compatibilization design, suitable for glass fiber reinforced or filled systems.
The melt flow index (MFI) and functional group content can be customized according to specific needs, adapting to different processing conditions.
This series of toughening agents is an ideal choice for enhancing the comprehensive performance of engineering polyester, combining scientific excellence with industrial feasibility.
